On Thursday, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appointed Andrii Sybiha as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs. MPs Yaroslav Zheleznyak, Iryna Herashchenko and Oleksiy Honcharenko reported the information.

Sibiha's candidacy was supported by 258 MPs.

Earlier today, September 5, the Rada dismissed Dmytro Kuleba from the post of Foreign Minister.

Andrii Sybiha is a Ukrainian diplomat and lawyer. From 1998 to 2002, he served as the second and first secretary for consular affairs at the Ukrainian Embassy in Poland. Following that, he was the First Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine until 2003.

In 2003-2008, Andrii Sybiha held senior positions in the Contractual and Legal Directorate (later Department) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, including Head of the Department and Deputy Director. From 2008 to 2012, he served as Minister Counselor at the Embassy of Ukraine in Poland.

Until 2016, Andrii Sybiha was the Director of the Consular Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. He then served as the Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey, a role he has held since 2017.

In May 2021, Andrii Sybiha was appointed Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, overseeing foreign policy and the development of strategic partnerships. 

On April 12 of this year, he was appointed First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs by the Cabinet of Ministers.
