Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has announced his resignation from his position. He confirmed this decision during a special briefing at the Government Administration, citing the need to "give others a chance" in the interest of internal inter-party democracy. Additionally, he revealed that he had accepted an offer to serve as the Chair of the Georgian Dream party.

During the briefing, Garibashvili expressed his gratitude, saying, “I would like to thank the founder and honorary chairman of our party, Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili, the leadership and members of the party and Parliament, heads of ministries and all employees, employees of the government administration, all civil servants for their great support during my term as Prime Minister.”

Earlier in the day, the ruling party's mouthpiece TV Imedi released "exclusive information" regarding the anticipated exchange of positions between Irakli Kobakhidze and Irakli Garibashvili. Furthermore, Imedi TV reported that Georgian Dream intends to reorganize the Cabinet of Ministers during the party congress scheduled for February 1.
