The President of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, noted at a specially held briefing that before the October 26 parliamentary elections, she will introduce a so-called technical government. She calls on the parties that have signed the charter to fully express their support for the document. According to the President, the reason for her decision is that "there is no public order for politicians to redistribute mandates and form a government at this transitional stage."

"There remain some interpretations on one issue, and since I am accountable to the public and consider this charter to be a response to public orders, I want everything to be clear. We have no right to leave things unclear or open to speculation. The interpretations concern the last sentence of the charter, which states, 'We promise that the government responsible for implementing this action plan will be presented by the President of Georgia." I am going to create this technical, administrative government, which will be solely responsible for fulfilling what is written in the charter and guiding us through these next few months. I should present a technical government composed of non-politicians because what I propose—the technical government—should be presented before the elections so that the public knows who will be responsible in the government and who will take control of this very government under the parliament," said the President of Georgia.

At the briefing, the President also spoke about her meetings in Europe, where she received promises from all responsible parties that "if the principles of the Charter are fulfilled to some extent, Georgia will quickly return to the stage of opening negotiations on EU membership."

"There are 14 days left before the election, and everything is in good shape, because I believe the promises I made to the public have been fulfilled. This charter has been completed; this is our action plan. Let's return to our European future, move beyond the Russian past, and allow Georgia to progress. I wanted to go through all the points of this charter with the four parties that make it up. Why? Because I went to Europe with this charter and received their condition that if it is fulfilled to some extent, we will be returned to where we should be at an urgent pace, at the door of opening negotiations," President Zourabichvili said.

However, she did not specify at the briefing when she would present the so-called technical government or whether it had the appropriate support from opposition parties regarding potential candidates.
