The ruling party, "Georgian Dream," is once again pursuing impeachment proceedings against President Salome Zurabishvili of Georgia. They cite her recent trips to Europe as the cause, arguing that these visits "were not coordinated with the government." This statement was made by Shalva Papuashvili, the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, who also criticized European leaders for meeting with the president.

"If foreign countries and organizations were previously unaware that the president needed the government's consent for her visits before the Constitutional Court's ruling, then following this decision, welcoming Salome Zurabishvili without the required consent from the Georgian government shows a deliberate disrespect for the Georgian people and its constitutional framework. This act violates the principle of non-interference in internal affairs and is contrary to our shared European values," Papuashvili stated.

It is important to note that a decision from the Constitutional Court alone does not suffice for impeachment; the support of 100 deputies is necessary, which "Georgian Dream" has been unable to secure in Parliament regarding this issue. As a result, their initial plan to remove the president did not succeed. Papuashvili mentioned that once the Constitutional Court agrees to their lawsuit a second time, the newly convened parliament will replace Salome Zurabishvili, whose presidential term is set to expire in a few months.

From September 30 to October 3, President Salome Zurabishvili conducted bilateral meetings in four countries: Germany, Poland, Belgium, and France.
