The attempt to create a political coalition between Giorgi Gakharia and Mamuka Khazaradze has ended in vain at this stage. The party "For Georgia" released a statement mentioning that "the other party could not reach an internal consensus."
"We set aside our party interests and gave up everything. instead, the other side requested a deadline for an internal coalition agreement. Unfortunately for us, it seems that the other side could not reach an internal consensus. The time to make specific decisions ahead of the elections is already limited; therefore, at this stage, an agreement could not be reached. The discussions that began between us and "Lelo" give us positive expectations regarding cooperation in the parliament of the next convocation," the statement published by Giorgi Gakharia's party said.
On the other hand, the leader of the "Lelo" party, Mamuka Khazaradze, stated that he was ready for unification and was going to the presidential administration to sign the agreement when Gakharia's party published a statement about the unsuccessful conclusion of the negotiations.
"Yesterday, we reached an agreement in principle. Today, at 14:00, we informed you that our group and coalition are ready to sign, and we are waiting for the time appointed by the president. Around 3:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m., I saw the statement published by Gakharia's party. I am ready for the principles we discussed yesterday," Mamuka Khazaradze said while speaking to the media.
According to Mamuka Khazaradze, regarding the possible union with Giorgi Gakharia, he represented the already formed coalition around "Lelo," and an agreement on this issue had been reached within his team. So far, it has not been specified what issue the parties could not agree on.
