The State Security Service of Georgia has officially confirmed that the head of the agency, Grigol Liluashvili, was on a "working visit" to the USA.

"It was an annual official visit, a regular working visit in the security direction. He himself said [on June 12, in the parliament] - partnership continues, and we are planning new stages of interesting cooperation - he went in connection with this," SSS explains.

After his visit to Washington, the leader of the "For Georgia" party, Giorgi Gakharia, noted in his weekly interview that "Bidzina Ivanishvili personally had sent his representative to the United States."

"They are so scared, in order to maybe find out what is happening in the United States, they have sent another agent, a postman there. Not the government, Bidzina Ivanishvili sent as a personal postman. It would be better not to send him. This is another example of how today’s government doesn’t understand how institutional democracy functions. The honorable chairman is sending one of the country's most powerful figures to a foreign country as an agent. Such dispatches of postmen will be frequent, although it happened in such a way that it would be better not to send them," said Giorgi Gakharia.

He also spoke about the current political mood in Washington regarding Georgia and added that "political messages and actions between the United States and EU member states will be absolutely coordinated."

"The United States is absolutely aware of what is happening in Georgia today. They understand that the Georgian people are fully committed to their civilizational, European, Western choice, while our political elite is anti-Western. Everyone clearly sees that the Georgian people need support to protect this civilizational choice. The elections are the best opportunity for this. Also, the steps, messages, actions, and policies between the USA and the EU member states will be coordinated and the "Georgian Dream" will no longer go into the background with lies and double policies," said Giorgi Gakharia.
