Another Georgian fighter, 48-year-old Tengiz Chania, died in Ukraine. He was killed by a shell explosion near Avdiivka, Donetsk. This information has been confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
Tengiz Chania, a displaced individual from the Russian-occupied region of Abkhazia in Georgia, actively participated in the conflicts in Abkhazia (1992-1993) and the Russia-Georgia war (2008). Formerly serving in the Intelligence Department of Georgia's Ministry of Defense and the Second Department of Special Tasks of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Chania has been involved in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine since the commencement of Russia's aggressive actions against the country. He was a member of the third combat brigade of "Azov."
With this recent fatality, the unofficial count of Georgian nationals who have perished in the fighting in Ukraine since the Russian invasion on February 24 now stands at 60.
