President of Georgia Salome Zourabishvili, during a meeting with the media, spoke about the protests held against the "Foreign Agents Bill" a year ago and, in response to a journalist's question, noted that the role of young people in the upcoming elections is "very important".
"I want to tell the young people that what they defended on the street last year was very important and actually a large part of the decision that was made at the end of the year is due to them. They know it well and felt their own power. The same should happen this year if we want to reach a result and open accession negotiations. Today, our future is not decided on the street; it is decided in the elections, and their participation is crucial. I know many young people who hold back from leaving the country, waiting for the prospect to open up. This perspective largely depends on them, and I am sure that they will come to the elections, and it will be their victory. Diaspora participation in elections is also important. This time, this election is not to elect any person or party. This is a kind of referendum. In addition, those who live in immigration, those who look at Georgia and those who hope that this country is promising and will become part of Europe and the way to return will be opened for them, it is their duty to participate in the elections. I know there are many limitations on this path. We work together with non-governmental organizations to make it as easy as possible for them to participate in the elections. It's everyone's job to tell those we know abroad or get a ticket to whoever you can and come, because you can come here once every four years to decide the future of your country, or be mobilized as much as possible because the fate of your country is in the ballot box this time," the Georgian president said.
In response to the question, "When you say that there is a choice between Europe and non-Europe, who is the "non-Europe" in Georgia?" The President of Georgia replied: "I don't know, People's power Party."
