The leader of the "For Georgia" party, Giorgi Gakharia, in an interview with Globalnews.ge, commented on the decision to officially involve Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder of "Georgian Dream," in Georgian politics for the third time. He stated, "Ivanishvili's intention is to rig the elections in a manner that doesn't questions their legitimacy".
Gakharia emphasized the possibility of "Georgian Dream" winning the 2024 elections with roughly 30% of the vote, but highlighted Ivanishvili's objective to secure additional votes and a substantial majority by stepping out of the shadows. He concluded, "The primary goal for which Bidzina Ivanishvili has reemerged is to manipulate the election results and secure a decisive majority."
"For some reason, he believes he can accomplish this task",- stated the opposition leader.
Drawing a parallel between previous elections and those anticipated in 2024, the opposition leader remarked, "By 2024, unlike in the past, there will be no independent institutions exercising even minimal oversight."
"There is not a single independent institution remaining to fulfill even a minor supervisory role in the elections. The Central Election Commission's chairman was appointed to ensure allegiance, and the same trend is seen with the Public Defender, the President of the National Bank, and others. Currently, the country lacks any independent institutions with a meaningful role in the election management process. This is why we assert that the risk of falsification is not confined to election day; this process has already commenced," stated Giorgi Gakharia, leader of the "For Georgia" party.
