Levan Davitashvili, the vice prime minister of the Georgian Dream government, spoke about the appointment of a new ambassador to the United States, stating that "the issue will be resolved in accordance with the procedures."

"There are positive positions from the US administration regarding the candidates presented... This issue will be resolved in accordance with the procedures, and in the near future, we will have an ambassador to the United States, which, of course, will further strengthen bilateral relations," said Levan Davitashvili during a visit to Washington. His comments were released by the government administration, which added that Davitashvili had "very interesting meetings" with the US Department of Commerce and the Treasury Department. According to Davitashvili, one of the topics discussed was the sanctions imposed on government officials:

"The sanctions, which were imposed absolutely without reason against some representatives of the Georgian government, are certainly one of the hindering factors in relations, and of course, this must be changed," said Levan Davitashvili.

It is still unknown who the Georgian Dream is considering as its candidate for ambassador to the United States.
