The Georgian Ambassador to the Netherlands, David Solomonia, has resigned. His resignation letter was published on social media by the diplomat's sister, Nino Solomonia.

"The greater part of my three decades in the Georgian diplomatic service was dedicated to working on European integration issues. It is a great happiness when your professional obligations coincide with your life choices. I faithfully performed my official duties until I believed that I could at least have an impact on the processes. Today, this hope is over. I condemn any violence and resign from the position of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands," the resignation letter reads.

A joint protest statement is also being issued by the employees of the National Bank of Georgia, who say that the statement made by Irakli Kobakhidze on November 28 contradicts Article 78 of the Constitution of Georgia and does not align with the country's historical aspiration to become a full-fledged member of the European family. At this stage, 174 employees of the National Bank have signed the statement.

"The statement made on November 28 regarding the removal of Georgia's negotiations with the European Union from the agenda until 2028 contradicts Article 78 of the Constitution of Georgia and does not correspond to the country's historical aspiration to become a full-fledged member of the European family. We, the employees of the National Bank of Georgia, support the continuous and irreversible implementation of the country's European integration," the statement issued by the employees of the National Bank reads.

Employees of the Tbilisi City Hall are also joining the protest of public officials. A joint letter issued by 149 employees of the capital's city hall states that the suspension of EU accession negotiations contradicts the Constitution of Georgia.

"We, the employees of the Tbilisi Municipality City Hall, clearly and unequivocally declare that we reject the decision to suspend Georgia's EU membership process until 2028 and all the reasons that led to it. In our opinion, this decision is not in line with the goal declared by the Georgian population, as reflected in Article 78 of the Constitution. We were, are, and remain loyal to our citizens, the Constitution, and the European values and course that Georgia has chosen. Within the framework of our activities, we continue to promote the formation of our country as a European state," the statement reads.
