In an interview with Globalnews.ge, member of the French Parliament Benjamin Hadad evaluates the current situation in Ukraine and states that "finding help for Ukraine is a crucial issue for the security of Europe as a whole, which both European leaders and United States officials understand." According to his own statement, "Ukraine must be able to protect its own territories and reclaim occupied lands."
"Finding help for Ukraine is a crucial issue for our security, for Europe as a whole, and we understand this both in Europe and in the United States, which I feel unequivocally at the meetings in Washington. Each congressman, if an official of the United States, with our large delegation, clearly states the position of support for Ukraine - we must be loyal to Ukraine in the long run. This is about protecting our freedom and democratic values, as well as ensuring security on the European continent. I think everyone understands this, except for those people who, under the influence of Russia, are trying to show that the West is tired of the ongoing war in Ukraine. I repeat once again, Ukraine must be able to defend its territories and reclaim the occupied lands, as well as be given a wide opportunity to become a member state of the European Union and NATO," - the French lawmaker said in the interview.
According to his own statement, "because Kiev has chosen a Western future, Russia is planning to erase the Ukrainian identity and end it as a state."
"Ukraine has chosen a Western future; that's why Russia has openly and publicly announced that it wants to erase Ukrainian identity and end its existence as a state. This is a fact. I don't understand how Russian propaganda is supposed to influence people who follow the Kremlin's statements. They listen publicly. Of course, this poses a threat to the fully democratic international system, the protection of which we must stand together. Putin's strategy is to divide us and gradually shift the focus away from Ukraine, but he is not achieving this goal, and there is a strong expectation that he will never be able to. Such unity of the West scares him the most, which I am sure he could not even imagine when he invaded Ukraine. Russia has not only become an external threat to European countries but has also transformed into an internal threat, as even in domestic political discussions, we are already talking a lot about how to deal with the challenges coming from the Kremlin. Unfortunately, we have to admit that years ago, we didn't really have such an approach. Our strategy did not work with Russia, and today it seems that it was even a mistake. However, we always have time to correct our mistakes, and now we can change the situation precisely by not giving the Kremlin the opportunity to win. If a certain group was skeptical before the December summit and thought that we would not be able to open negotiations with Ukraine regarding joining the European Union, the European Council managed to make this decision. This was a historic agreement, and I am sure that we will be able to move to even higher levels at a fast pace," - said Benjamin Haddad, representative of the French Parliament and the ruling party, in an interview with Globalnews.ge.
