The President of Georgia, Salome Zourabishvili, is waiting for the leaders of the opposition parties, Giorgi Gakharia and Mamuka Khazaradze, to hold negotiations on a possible unification. According to the president, "it is now necessary to simplify the choice for opposition voters." In her own statement, she noted that the union between the two pro-European forces is in the hands of "Strong Georgia" on one side and the party "for Georgia" on the other.

"The turning point in the history of elections in Georgia is approaching, and our citizens must make a very important decision that will determine the future of our country. We see this more clearly every day. This choice will determine whether our future will be aligned with Europe or whether we will fall under the influence of Russia, to which Mr. Ivanishvili is linked. Therefore, October 26 is not just an ordinary election day; it is the day of a crucial choice, a referendum on whether to choose sovereignty, independence, and European values, or to relinquish our future to Russia. Today, the choice is between Europe and Russia. We will not give up this choice, and we will not delegate this responsibility to anyone. I will take my share of responsibility until the end, and I will support all pro-European forces. This is why the charter was created: to establish a joint condition for the swift and effective return of Europe. We have drawn up an action plan together and will implement it collectively. Now, one thing is needed to make the choice easier for opposition voters: a positive third center that undecided voters are waiting for and that has the ability to generate the necessary momentum for full mobilization in society. I believe in this, and that is why I participated in consultations with everyone. I am ready to contribute to this process as a neutral party. The decision is in the hands of two pro-European forces: on one side, "Strong Georgia," and on the other, the party "for Georgia." I hope that at this significant stage for the country, they will be able to take a step that will provide voters with more clarity, certainty, and a sense of empowerment. A step that will convince voters that political parties can sacrifice a lot for the sake of saving the country and play an important role in shaping a European future that no one will forget. Therefore, I welcome Mamuka Khazaradze's public readiness, and I also know that there is a similar readiness on the part of Giorgi Gakharia. However, the election calendar leaves us very little time for a final decision. Therefore, I will invite both political forces to the Orbelian Palace tomorrow so that the last stage of the talks can be held immediately. I fully support this process and am ready to see it through to completion. This is what society expects from you," the President said at a special briefing.
