"Starting today, we are suspending our work in the Parliamentary Assembly," said Tea Tsulukiani, a member of the "Georgian Dream" party, after the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe adopted a resolution concerning Georgia.

As Tsulukiani explained, many provisions of the document are unacceptable because they are unjust and unfounded.

"For several days, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe had debates on whether to approve the mandate of our parliamentary delegation. Many people, primarily our anti-state-opposition and some NGOs, fought against the recognition of the mandate of the new Parliament's delegation from Georgia.

This plan failed during the committee hearings and then again at the plenary session, where only 43 out of 306 members of the Assembly supported the rejection of the Georgian delegation's mandate.

Thus, the mandate of the new Parliament's delegation was put to a final vote just minutes ago, and the result was made known.

However, the document recognizing the mandate comes with conditions. Many provisions are unacceptable to us because they are unjust and groundless. Moreover, the first condition, which exceeds the competence of this Assembly, violates our country's sovereignty, and disregards the will and facts of over 1.12 million voters, is categorically unacceptable. Accepting this condition would be tantamount to betraying our voters and, therefore, the vast majority of our society.

Based on the above, we, the members of the Georgian Parliament's delegation in Strasbourg and Tbilisi, have deliberated and, by a unanimous decision of the Georgian Dream team, despite our mandate being approved, we are suspending our work in the Parliamentary Assembly as of today. We believe that as long as the unjust and unfounded blackmail against the elected government of the Georgian people continues, evidence and facts are meaningless, discussions are biased, and there is an insulting attitude toward the people of our country. Therefore, there is no purpose or justification for our participation in the Assembly.

Georgia, of course, remains a member of the Council of Europe as a state. However, we will resume our parliamentary delegation's participation only after the unjust attitude toward the Georgian state and people changes, blackmail ends, and each official and unofficial decision-maker, as well as the forces behind them, fully realize that such pressure will not push the government elected by the people of Georgia into any anti-Georgian steps.

Thank you very much for your support and attention. We felt the support of each of you from Tbilisi," Tsulukiani concluded.
